A MAN who blocked his partner’s car to prevent her from driving away will have to wait until next month for punishment.

As reported in the Advertiser previously, Alexander Christie admitted behaving in a threatening manner by shouting, swearing and blocking the path of a vehicle in the town’s Hutton Park on July 19 this year.

Alloa Sheriff Court heard that 49-year-old Christie and the complainer had been in a relationship for seven years, but at the time of the offence it had broken down and the accused had moved out of the family home.

At around 10.45pm on the night of the incident, the complainer was at home with her son and his friend.

The accused arrived intoxicated and began to shout and swear.

The complainer sent the young pal home, also leaving the house with her son.

As they got in the car, Christie came down the garden path, jumped over a hedge and then stood in front of the vehicle.

Another driver witnessed the event, pulling over to call the police.

The complainer eventually managed to drive away, reporting the incident also.

In defence it was claimed that Christie, of Engelen Drive in Alloa, had lost his job and was feeling low.

The relationship was said to have “its ups and downs” like any other, but the accused hoped to return to the family home.

On Thursday, Sheriff David Mackie was told that an ordered report was not yet ready.

He deferred the case until December 22 for its completion.
