SHIRE hot shot David Grant believes his new team can catch runaway leaders East Kilbride.

The 20-year-old scored four as East Stirlingshire hammered Gala Fairydean Rovers 10-1 at Netherdale.

Grant, who has now hit the net 23 times this season, said: “Everything clicked for us today.

“We were a completely new team at the start of the season but we have found our feet in the Lowland League and that’s six wins in a row.

“We were 17 points behind East Kilbride not that long ago – it’s down to eight points now. We know we just have to keep winning and start putting the pressure on them.

“They are a long way in front but they are catchable.”

Andy Rodgers notched a double with Connor Greene, Jamie Glasgow, Paul Sludden and Dylan McQuigan also scoring in the rout.

Stuart Noble grabbed Gala’s second-half consolation.

Gala manager Steven Noble said: “It was a humiliation.

“We were second best from the whistle and we need to do a lot better.

“The most disappointing aspect for me was that the players gave up.”

Civil Service Strollers climbed the table after coming from behind to beat Vale of Leithen at Victoria Park.

Steven Froude’s equalising freekick on the hour was added to by a David Churchill strike in the 2-1 win.

Keith McLeod had fired the home team in front after quarter of an hour.

Vale boss Chris Anderson said: "We weren't good enough today.

"With the players we have we should be doing a lot better than that."

A late Richard Kirwan strike earned Cumbernauld Colts a share of the points against Stirling University at the Falkirk Stadium on Friday night.

The 2-2 draw leaves both teams locked on 21 points.
