YOUNG Cub Scouts from across the Wee County renewed their promise as part of the section’s 100th birthday.

The children gathered at Alloa Tower and recited the oath at 7.16pm to mark the centenary. This time was chosen as it is 19.16 in the 24-hour clock.

The group then went to Alloa Ludgate Church where there were hot dogs and an indoor campfire for a party.

Just under 100 Cubs from throughout Clackmannanshire attended and very much enjoyed the evening.

District commissioner Louise Burnett said: “We had an indoor campfire and some activities.

“Everyone had a really good time.”

Clackmannanshire Cubs joined with others across the country in renewing their promise as the Scout Association had encouraged all groups to hold local promise parties.

In taking the oath, Cubs promise to do their best, do their duty, help others and keep the Cub Scout law.
