CLACKS residents are being urged to have their say and decide which local projects should be prioritised for funding.

A number of events are being organised by community councils across the Wee County as part of the local authority's Community Matters grant scheme.

There is £100,000 available for community projects in Clackmannanshire with funding from the council as well as the Scottish Government's Community Choices Fund.

A number of ideas have been put forwards for a cash boost from all corners of the county, with bids totalling more than £200,000.

The leader of Clackmannanshire Council, Labour Councillor Bobby McGill, said: “It has been great to see bids to Community Matters coming in for a wide variety of projects looking for amounts from £800 to £10,000.

“Now that local groups have made their grant applications, we need local people to turn up to the events and tell us which projects best meet the needs of their area.

“As well as finding out which projects are the priorities for funding, we are looking forward to finding out what residents think about having this new role and we hope people turning up at these events will help tell us that.”

As previously reported, one such event has already taken place at the Devonvale Hall this weekend.

Today, Wednesday January 18, a decision event is being held at Clackmannan Town Hall between 6pm and 7pm.

This weekend will see events in Alva and Alloa, with Dollar, Menstrie, Muckhart, Sauchie and Fishcross as well as Tullibody, Cambus and Glenochil to follow next week.

The Alva event will be held at the parish church's hall on Saturday, January 21, between 10am and 12noon. On the same day, the people of Alloa will be able to decide at the town hall between 2pm and 4pm.

Head down to Dollar Civic Centre next Thursday, January 26, between 7pm and 9pm to see the local projects there.

Next Saturday, the Menstrie event will take place at the Dumyat Centre between 1pm and 4pm with Muckhart Parish Church also open on the same day from 10.30am, more details to be announced.

Sauchie Hall will also be waiting for residents on Saturday between 11am and 3pm and last, but not least, people will have the chance to decide at Tullibody Civic Centre between 12noon and 3pm.

All events are organised by community councils and residents are encouraged to keep an eye out for further details and to help make the decisions on how funding is allocated.
