A YOUNG boy was injured after being clipped by the wing mirror of a car in Tillicoultry this week.

Police were called out to the town's High Street at around 8am on Tuesday following reports of a child being hit by a car.

The youngster was walking with an adult at the time and was hit by the car's wing mirror.

He received a number of facial injuries as a result and was later taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Advertiser that the driver of the car stopped and spoke with the child and the adult, before leaving the scene.

He added that efforts will be made to contact the driver as part of their inquiries, but that the incident is "not being treated as a hit and run as yet".
