THE local authority in the Wee County could be teaming up with Falkirk Council for a joint internal audit arrangement.

Proposals for the move will come in front of Clacks' Audit and Finance Committee tomorrow, when elected representatives will hear how recent developments brought the idea up.

The council's internal audit and fraud manager resigned in October last year with some of their team expressing an interest in a voluntary redundancy.

Much of the paper-based audit work is becoming, or has already become, automated with the implementation of new technologies meaning some risks can be eliminated.

Falkirk has already expressed an interest in consortium audit arrangements and if it gets the go-ahead, the new framework could be piloted in 2017-18.

According to current plans, Clacks will retain an internal auditor, who will work on a joint plan with their Falkirk counterpart, as well as a fraud officer for at least the pilot year.
