AN ALLOA butchers is on a roll, scooping another award for its products.

The High Street's James Aitken Butchers enjoyed success once again when it picked up a bronze for its mince birdie at the 18th World Championship Scotch Pie Awards.

Shop manager Brian Cockburn was very happy to receive recognition and said it was a testament to the hard work of the team.

More than 100 butchers and bakers entered with over 500 pies, pasties, sausage rolls, bridies, savouries and apple pies.

Beating off stiff competition, the shop received its award from presenter Carol Smillie, who said at the awards lunch in Cumberland: “Each and every butcher and baker here today knows they make something special so a confirmation of this kind is the real icing on the cake.”
