A SAUCHIE man has admitted assaulting two people during a violent Christmas Day bust up.

Garry Hiddleston was arrested on December 25 after police responded to a disturbance at a property on Schaw Court.

The accused attacked his partner by seizing her by the neck, before striking another man on the head with a bottle and seizing him by the neck, to his injury.

The 34-year-old was initially placed on remand for the matter, and spent the last few weeks in custody.

However. he pleaded guilty to both charges, subject to amendments, when he appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday, January 16.

His lawyer Kelly Howe said her client had consumed a significant amount of alcohol that day and, along with his partner, had been struggling to deal with a personal tragedy.

She told the court: "There is a background of depression, which has now been diagnosed, and he has also been referred to signpost.

"He can't recall the incident, due to his intoxicated state, but he is someone who can adhere to the requirements of bail."

Sheriff Christopher Shead said: "The circumstances are such as to persuade the court to admit you to bail."

He ordered Hiddleston to make himself available to the social work department for the purpose of completing a background report for the court.

He will re-appear for sentencing on February 16.
