THE kind gesture of a mystery man in Alloa has bowled over a group of ladies.

The friends meet up once a month in Clacks venue The Old Brewery and Monday, January 30 was no different.

They came together for a good time and plenty of laughs, but the altruism of a stranger made this social occasion even better.

When they went to pay for their bill, they were informed that it was already taken care of.

They would like the gent to know they were delighted and that it "really made their day".

In a letter to the Advertiser, the women, who dubbed themselves as the 'eight appreciative senior ladies', have expressed their gratitude for the man's generous action.

It said: "We were about to get ready to leave when the waitress came over and told us we wouldn't have to pay for any of our meals or drinks as a very kind gentleman, when paying his own, said to the girl, I'll also pay for these ladies, eight of us, and don't tell them until I'm gone.

"So we would like to thank the mystery gentleman very much for such a lovely gesture - what a kind thing to do - and we couldn't believe it and would like him to know we were all delighted and it really made our day.

"We would like him to know it was very much appreciated and hope he gets it back in tenfold.

"So, once again, thank you very much."
