A COMMUNITY radio station in Stirling has issued a call for Clacks musicians to appear on their Live Lounge show.

Stirling City Radio took to the airwaves last August and can already boast a following of thousands of listeners each week.

Based out of the Our Place Cafe, in the middle of the Stirling Arcade, the station is said to have a strong community focus.

As part of that, staff are hoping bands and artists from the Wee County will appear on their Live Lounge to perform – with their music being beamed to places as far as North Korea.

Station manager James Russell told the Advertiser: "This is a community project and we operate an open door policy.

"It's an internet-based station and we get anywhere between 12,000 and 15,000 listeners each month.

"We broadcast all over the world; even into North Korea. We're very big in Germany, for some reason – though we're too sure why."

He added: "Although we are based in Stirling, we are very much looking to reach out to areas like Clackmannanshire, especially with our Live Lounge feature.

"Alloa does really well with bands and we'd be happy to have them on the show.

"It's a very intimate venue and it's all acoustic – there's no amps or drums. We broadcast it live and the people in the cafe are there listening to it.

"We'd love to hear from any bands in the Wee County that would like to come along. The recording goes on Facebook as well, so if people miss the broadcast they can catch up later."

The cafe prides itself on its informal, friendly vibe, with artists, bands and visitors asked to sign the wall inside.

There is also a feature grand piano, while Roadshow Music, based on Upper Craigs, recently donated a blue Tanglewood guitar as well.

Alva man Ronnie McLean, the drive time DJs at the station, added: "We've had a lot of musicians coming to the Live Lounge.

"Some have travelled from all over, including Australia so I thought why not get more acts from Clacks? It's a good platform for them to reach a lot of listeners.

"We've had a few from there already, but we'd be delighted to get a few more. Being from the area myself, I'm obviously keen to showcase the bands and artists from the county."
