IT WAS a full house at Resonate last Friday, when a Wee County artist launched her first individual exhibition in Alloa.
'Louise Finlayson's Solo Show – Remembering', officially opened at the North Castle Street venue, with guests enjoying a wine reception, a chat and works of art.
The display features more than 30 pieces which Louise painted over recent years.
Introducing the exhibition, she wrote: “I always had a pencil in my hand; from about the age of two, I loved drawing.
“I went on to study art at school and achieved a higher in the subject, but in those days art was not considered to be a safe career move.
“Later in life I joined an art class at Dollar Academy where I began my interest in watercolour, painting mostly portraits of the children of my fellow classmates.
“The class changed and I left and only took painting up again after I was widowed seven years ago. I paint mostly in watercolour, although I do use other media; street scenes and portraits being my favourite subjects.
“I particularly enjoy painting interesting locations and faces full of character. Living in Alloa, I belong to many art groups in the area and enjoy the stimulation and camaraderie of fellow artists.”
Donna McGee, director at Resonate Arts House, said: “Louise uses colour to express such passion and emotion within her work.
“Each piece takes you on a journey from feeling the sun on your face from her village painting through to wanting to take a bite of the lovely still life of apples; this show has a wide and beautiful range of artworks for all to enjoy.”
With prices between £45 and £75, the works are also on sale at Gallery 23.
