A WOMAN who was caught driving without insurance after crashing into the back of another motorist has been slapped with a heavy fine.

Last Wednesday, fiscal depute Matthew Kerr told Alloa's Justice of the Peace Court that police switched on their blue lights when out on mobile patrol on November 10 last year.

On the A907 near Cambus a female motorist pulled over to let them pass. Unfortunately Jane Bell, who was driving behind the other woman, was unable to stop in time and collided into the front car's rear bumper.

The police stopped and after checks it was discovered that the accused was behind the wheel without the proper paperwork in place.

Bell, of Glentye Drive in Tullibody, pleaded guilty by letter to driving without insurance and without due care or attention thereby causing a collision.

Justice Mandy Shand fined the 34-year-old £800 and endorsed her licence with six penalty points.
