ONE of Hollywood's finest actors dropped in unexpectedly on Clackmannanshire today.

Lornshill Academy received a surprise visit from the charity Stonewall, in the form of Sir Ian McKellen himself.

He spoke to pupils during the trip to the Alloa school, which is in the midst of holding a diversity week.

On Twitter earlier today, Lornshill teased the visit: "Big news to come from our media team today about our special visitor in school this morning....."

It later revealed the big surprise, saying: "Today we had a visitor from stonewall [sic]. His name was Sir Ian McKellen also known as Gandalf and Magneto."

The actor – well-known from blockbuster franchises such as X-Men and Lord of the Rings – helped to establish Stonewall.

It works for equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people in Britain.

Sir Ian was also the first to add his name to the local school's #NoBystanders poster.

An anti-bullying campaign from the charity, it pledges to stand up for fairness and kindness.
