THE Greens of Clackmannanshire have announced their candidates for the upcoming council elections this year.

It is the first time local residents will have the chance to vote Green in each of the Wee County's wards when electors will go to the polls in May.

Jack Gervaise will be running in the North Ward. He was a teacher and union representative at Lornshill Academy and has previously been employed at the Linwood Car Factory, Longannet Power Station and Scottish Power.

Marion Robertson will be looking for votes in the East Ward. She runs a bed and breakfast where she sources season and local produce. Marion had a career in the environment and waste industry in the Falkirk area and studied eco-design at Falkirk College.

Bryan Quinn is standing in the South Ward. He is currently completing a psychology degree at the University of Stirling and is a director and press officer for Clackmannanshire Credit Union.

He had previously worked for an online publishing company and was campus president while studying at Forth Valley College.

Bryan was also running for Mid Scotland and Fife with pro-independence left coalition RISE last year.

Cara Quinn will be contesting the West Ward. She is primarily a stay-at-home parent to two youngsters. She also volunteers in her spare time and had helped out at the Wee County Children's Christmas Shop. Cara studied creative writing at university in London.

John Short will be running for the Central Ward. He has retired from a career spent mainly in the NHS and is now a volunteer trustee of an arts in health charity.

He is also a trustee at Clackmannanshire Credit Union and carries out surveys for the British Trust for Ornithology.

Bryan said: "We are delighted that everyone in Clacks will have the chance to vote Green in May.

“We want to see five Green councillors elected in May; fighting to protect services, build more council houses and invest in local green jobs.

“If people want to see positive change in the council, they should give us their number one vote in May."
