MORE than a hundred Beaver Scouts took part in their regular torchlight walk in Clackmannanshire.

Armed with glowsticks and sweets, the intrepid youngsters walked the three-mile path from Tillicoultry to Dollar on Friday, March 10.

It is one of the many planned activities the club organises throughout the year.

The event, hosted by 2nd Dollar Scouts and featured other scouts from Clackmannan, West Alloa, Alva, Menstrie as well as Alloa and Sauchie.

Afterwards participants were served hotdogs supplied by butcher Brian Devlin, with the help of the King's Seat restaurant, and 2nd Dollar Scouts.

Caroline Nugent, leader of the 2nd Dollar Scouts, said: "Overall it was a brilliant social night, with great enthusiasm and energy from so many.

"Everything just went to schedule – which is not always easy with kids – and everyone really seemed to have a good time.

"We always try, every couple of months or so, to get all the scout groups together for events – and we do it for sports days, or things like a circus skills night.

"Scouts are becoming more popular; our group has doubled in size over the last few years.

"So we're always trying to get more adults to volunteer as a bit of a fun outlet."

The Beavers, aged six and seven, are the youngest section of the scouts and graduate to cubs at eight.

From there, they can become scouts, from 10-14, and explorers from 14-18.
