A SERIES of free activities have been arranged for young families during the upcoming Easter break.

The Happiness Festival, held by Resonate Arts House, will run all through the month of April, offering a range of activities for children and adults to sample.

It will be split into two sections to cater for youngsters during Monday, April 3, to Friday, April 14, with the adults programme continuing from Monday, April 17, to Friday, April 28.

Organisers are warning that booking is essential, with spaces limited on each session.

The children's events begin with jewellery making on Monday, April 3, offering an introduction to the craft by fashioning friendship bracelet.

On the Tuesday, there is a Wire Happiness Trees session, with youngsters able to create unique tree sculptures using colourful craft wire.

There is a fairy gardens workshop on Thursday, April 6, with a project to create a magical greenspace with painted rocks, fabric flowers and even a fairy door.

The week finishes with Woodwork Birdhouses where the group can build and decorate a birdhouse to brighten up their home garden and help local wildlife.

On Monday, April 10, there is the terrariums event, with youngsters creating a series of small, self sustaining eco-systems and learning about how our environment works.

The following day, crafty kids will be using foam and mono printing techniques, to create their own 'messages of happiness'.

For those with an interest in the outdoors, there is a Bug Hotel event on Thursday, April 13, with the chance to create a habitat for creepy crawlies in the Resonate garden.

Finally, on the second Friday there is The Big Picture: A project to produce a large-scale, outdoor painting.

There is also a similar programme for adults, with jewellery-making on April 17 and an introduction to oil painting on April 18.

The first week then rounds off with a Woodwork Birdhouses session on April 20 and an introduction to glass painting on April 21.

There is then an introduction to pyrography on April 24; an introduction to acrylic painting the next day; followed by wire tree sculptures on April 27; and terrariums on April 28.
