A YOUTH has been traced in connection with the fire set in the play area of Glenview Cottage Nursery in Tullibody.
The blaze was started on Saturday afternoon and completely destroyed outdoor equipment, engulfed nearby trees and damaged the adjoining bookies.
Phone lines in the vicinity were also damaged, with investigators stating there could have been potentially-disastrous consequences had it not been reported so early.
However, after their investigations, officers have now reported a youngster for the offence.
A spokesperson said: "After extensive enquiry by local police, with valued assistance from the Tullibody community, a local youth has been traced, interviewed and will be the subject of a report to the Children’s Reporter.
"The extent of damage to the premises and the neighbouring bookmakers is estimated to run into tens of thousands of pounds.
"The local community officer (PC 421 Allen) would once again like to extend a big thank you to the residents of Tullibody for the customary support he has come to expect."
