A TEENAGE driver has been slapped with a fine for failing to get his van fixed.

Last Wednesday at Alloa's Justice of the Peace Court, Richard McGregor admitted driving along the A907 near Dumyat View Roundabout in Tullibody on January 16 this year with a cracked windscreen, defective offside stop-lamp, defective front offside head-lamp and defective horn.

Fiscal depute Matthew Kerr told the court that the 19-year-old was pulled over by police and given an opportunity to fix the issues, but failed to comply.

McGregor, of Westfield in Kincardine, claimed he had family problems at the time and it "slipped" his mind to get fixed. He's now using another motor.

Justice Stuart Fair fined the accused £140 for his gaff and told him it was "total madness to ignore it".
