A WEE COUNTY musician has been nominated for the Scottish Jazz Awards.

Local pianist Fergus McCreadie has been put forward in the Rising Star category.

A performer, composer, arranger and teacher, Fergus is one of the Scottish jazz scene's emerging figures and has previously been featured in the Glasgow International Jazz Festival as well as the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival with his trio.

Last year he has bagged the Peter Whittingham Jazz Award, which will help him record an album of his compositions, which are a fusion between jazz and traditional Scottish music.

He has played locally too, staging a concert at the Burnside Hall with Music in Dollar two years ago.

The awards are part of the Glasgow music festival this year with the ceremony taking place on the closing night of Sunday, June 25, at the city's Royal Concert Hall.

People can vote for their winners online at jazzfest.co.uk/awards/ until 5pm on June 2 as well.
