FIREFIGHTERS battled a blaze at a recycling factory outside Alva last night.
No one was hurt, however, the flames caused significant damage to property at the main Avanti Environmental site.
Fire crews had been "alerted to an outbuilding on fire" at Balquharn Farm Road in Alva at 7.43pm yesterday.
Damage was also caused to the windshield of a vehicle parked on the site, suggesting vandals may have been the cause of the incident.
Stuart Reid, recycling centre site manager, said: "It was not as bad as it potentially could have been; the main building itself was not affected at all. We had a quick response from the fire brigade.
"There was also a bit of damage done to a vehicle parked on site.
"We will conduct our own initial investigation and see what turns up and will liaise with the police and the fire service as well.
"It's not affected our work schedule at all, so it's a bit of storm in a teacup."
A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service added: "Two appliances were immediately mobilised and firefighters tackled the flames with the aid of high-powered hoses.
"There were no casualties and crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe."
