EXCITEMENT is rising at the Speirs Centre in Alloa as 138 panels of The Great Tapestry of Scotland are now in place, hidden from view.

The hand-stitched works of art will be unveiled at the official opening event next Monday, May 29, evening with a red carpet, guests and champagne between 5pm and 7pm.

It is hoped the exhibition, which will run over 12 weeks, will bring around 20,000 visitors to the Wee County.

The display is being brought to Alloa by Clackmannanshire Third Sector Interface (CTSI) in conjunction with the council.

Volunteering opportunities are available – visit ctsi.org.uk/great-tapestry where local businesses can also inquire about sponsoring a panel.
