A WEE COUNTY double act have put on their walking boots in a bid to raise funds for Alzheimer Scotland.

Friends Mellisa White and Kerry Booth are training for the Forth Valley Memory Walk, which takes place on Sunday, September 17.

The duo are striving to boost awareness of dementia and celebrate the work their chosen charity does in supporting sufferers and their loved ones.

They told the Advertiser: "Dementia is a horrible incurable disease that permanently changes a person's life and can have a huge effect on their family.

"It's a disease which is close to our hearts as we have had family suffer and we know the heartache it causes watching someone with dementia change, knowing there is no cure."

Mellisa and Kerry have been out walking three or four times a week covering up to eight miles a day in preparation for the 5K and said they were taking the challenge head on.

"We do like to push ourselves and motivate each other to go a little further and when we do, we can't help but take a selfie to show how proud we are with ourselves," they joked.
