CLACKMANNANSHIRE COUNCIL has been ordered to reproduce CCTV images of an alleged assault in Alloa town centre.

The local authority operates a number of cameras which may have recorded the incident on July 30 this year.

An Alloa man stands accused of assaulting two police officers on Mill Street, along with a charge of struggling violently with them and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.

The 36-year-old denies the offences and defended himself when he appeared at the town's sheriff court on Thursday, October 12.

With a visible scar on his head, he made reference to sustaining a "fractured skull" on the night in question.

The accused added that he was "astonished" the CCTV had not yet been produced.

After hearing his submissions, Sheriff David Mackie ordered the council to offer up the images from cameras on Bank Street, Mill Street and at the Greenside Street Car Park.

The case will recall on October 30.
