THE team at McDonald’s in Alloa have been doing their bit for those less fortunate by donating to a local foodbank over the festive period.

Staff at the fast food restaurant have been working together to raise money for The Gate, and are also donating food to the cause.

They are also encouraging their customers to do the same, and have laid out festive boxes in their Clackmannan Road branch so that those who want to be involved can donate.

Laura Doherty, people manager with McDonald's, said: “We are thrilled to have donated 320kg of food to The Gate foodbank in Alloa who help those experiencing times of hardship in our local community.

“The support and donations we have received from our customers and staff has been outstanding and we hope to continue working with The Gate foodbank into the new year.”

Meanwhile, employees at McDonald’s High Street branch in Stirling have also been busy fundraising for the charity by holding a festive raffle, and hope to raise another £200.

The Gate foodbank was founded in 2010 and works based on referrals from charities, faith groups and statutory agencies.
