AN ALLOA couple enjoyed a special gift this festive season with the arrival of their baby boy on Christmas Day.

Natalie Wharton, originally from Durham, and Gary Love welcomed their son Kai into the world at 9.21pm on December 25.

Weighing in at eight pounds and one ounce, the little star has already stolen their hearts with the new parents doting on their newborn.

Kai was due on Thursday, December 21 but mum Natalie admitted it was a lovely surprise to see him for the first time on Monday night – even if it meant missing out on some turkey.

She told the Advertiser: “It was a shock because it was Christmas Day, but we are pleased. It’s a good present.

“It was a strange day because I didn’t get out of hospital until Boxing Day. I didn’t get a Christmas dinner because of all the contractions.”

And while they don’t want to tempt fate, the infant has been an angel so far and hasn’t made too much noise.

Natalie continued: “He’s just sleeping a lot. He opens his eyes for a bit then that’s him. He has a little whimper but doesn’t cry too much.

“Because he wasn’t meant to be here on Christmas Day, it was a bit of a shock.”

Gary has taken to the task of being a dad with ease and Natalie was the first to say he has been a natural with their son.

She said: “He is very hands on with him. He is always checking on him. He already is [a good dad]. He’s really good with him.

“We’ve got family travelling up to see him. He’s got a wee photo shoot to go to.

“We are travelling down [to England] in a couple [of] weeks so people that can’t travel up can see him.”
