AN ALLOA woman was one of around 90 dedicated staff at NHS Forth Valley who received awards for long service at the end of last month.

With a combined total of 2,590 years between them, the 92 employees attended a special ceremony at Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert to celebrate two, three and four decades of work in the healthcare system.

Among them was local woman and health records supervisor Jane Kaney, who has been working for the NHS for 40 years.

She, along with the rest of the group, received a specially designed certificate and pin badge from vice chairperson Julia Swan and chief executive Cathie Cowan.

Julia said: “It was a pleasure to present these awards to staff and gave me the opportunity to say a personal thank you for their long and dedicated service to the NHS.

“The staff who attended this year’s award ceremony came from many different backgrounds and it was fascinating to listen to their personal stories and hear about some of the changes they had witnessed during their long NHS careers.”

Also hitting 40 were Morag McLaren, head of organisational development, and Anne Moylan, advanced neonatal nurse practitioner.

Morag began her career as a nurse at Bellsdyke Hospital in Larbert and at the age of 21, she became the youngest ever charge nurse.

She later switched to organisational development and has been closely involved with a range of staff initiatives.

Anne spent most of her career as a midwife and neonatal nurse – something she now teachers at Napier University.

She has also been educating midwives at the Da Nang Women and Children's Hospital in Vietnam.

Originally joining on just a three month contract to help with health records was Angela McGregor, administration manager at the Women and Children's Unit.

She decided to stay and has been working for the Forth Valley health board for 30 years now.

Dietetic co-ordinator Fiona Struthers has been working in healthcare for 20 years, she is a frequent visitor to the wards at Forth Valley Royal, helping patients to recover through individual plans.
