STIRLING'S Murray Place could soon re-open to traffic, and in time for the Stirling Marathon, should officials deem the building safe.
Fire crews spent hours dealing with a blaze above King's Barber Shop, after the alarm was raised at 6pm on Friday, February 6.
Members of the public were pushed back from the area, amid fears the building, or parts of it, may collapse or fall onto the pavement.
The street has been closed to traffic since, with the entrance to the shop sealed off by fencing.
The route for both the Stirling Marathon and Half Marathon, due to take place at the end of the month, had been laid out to pass through Murray Place.

However, Stirling Council say the road may still be opened in time for the race, providing safety can be assured.
A spokesperson said: “The building owner’s appointed contractor will be on site today (afternoon of 18 April).
“They anticipate to complete the proposed remedial works within 10 days.
“Once it has been completed and verified as safe by the Council’s Building Standards service, it is intended to reopen Murray Place to traffic.
"A contingency plan remains in place for the Stirling Marathon and further updates will be provided once works are progressing on site”.
