AN ALLOA salon is celebrating after winning a prestigious award for the second year in a row.

The Colour Lounge on the town's High Street was voted the best Hair and Beauty Salon of the Year for Central Scotland, beating competition from Stirling, Falkirk and Grangemouth.

Having already topped the category last year, the team are over the moon and have extra cause for celebration as this is the salon’s 25th year in business.

Lorraine, who owns The Colour Lounge, told the Advertiser: “I am ecstatic. We’re 25 years in business come September, so we’re going to hopefully do a promotion for September and it’s a good achievement to win two years in a row.

“We only started entering last year. We were nominated by the public, so we didn’t really know if we had a good chance. For two years in a row it is amazing.”

Lorraine is insistent that her team and business are as up to date and modern as possible and with that in mind, she makes sure the shop’s social media is constantly updated.

The shop’s systems were voted five out of five based on customer reviews and they have also won awards for their HR, among other things.

The Colour Lounge staff are also constantly being trained, whenever possible, and such is their success at the minute they are recruiting a new member of staff in the next couple of weeks.

Lorraine is also adamant that they won’t rest on their laurels as she plans the next steps.

She continued: “My next goal is to own this building within two years as we currently just lease it at the moment. I want to own this building.

“There’s a few wee expansion things I'd like to do within here [before thinking about opening another branch].”

Lorraine added: "I want to give thanks to the team who have been amazing because without them we would have nothing to build, my husband who constantly supports me and to all the suppliers.

“Also the clients because you can’t have a business without the clients. A big thank you because without them I wouldn’t be here. The people of Alloa have served me well.”
