AN ALLOA butchers’ burgers have received national recognition.
The High Street’s James Aitken Butchers scooped yet another accolade last month, this time at the Scottish Craft Butcher Awards.
Possibly a new summer favourite – the Beef & Spring Onion Burger won a silver award after judging at Forth Valley College’s Stirling Campus.
The company’s David Thomson picked up the award at a meeting in Perth last month.
In January, the butchers developed a Balmoral pie just in time for Burns Night and received industry recognition too with a gold at the Scottish Craft Butchers Savoury Pastry Products Awards 2018.
More silvers followed for bridies, sausage rolls and their Scotch and steak pies.
The Balmoral pie featured haggis and chicken in a peppercorn sauce.
Back in May 2017, manager Brian Cockburn, who develops all the recipes, and the staff also received gold awards for their Indian lamb kebabs, chicken kebabs in Argentinian sauce and a silver for their haggis, neeps and tatties tray.
