A MAN who committed a string of horrific sexual crimes has been jailed for eight years.

Mark Wallace sexually attacked three partners over the course of 16 years between 1999 and 2015, raping two of the women.

The attacks took place in Clackmannanshire, Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy and addresses in Glasgow’s east end.

The 38-year-old, from Dunfermline, took the stand during his trial at the High Court and claimed he had “no idea” why any of his former partners had made the allegations against him.

Asked directly if he had raped anyone, he replied: “Never! I know how horrible that would be. I’d never ever do that to a person.”

However, one of the women told the court that Wallace cut her off from family and friends and even convinced her that she was adopted because she didn’t look like her close relatives.

She said he drank Buckfast continuously, repeatedly punched and kicked her and degraded her.

The woman said Wallace left her feeling “dirty and ashamed” after forcing her to have sex with him.

She said: “I thought it was normal in a relationship but as I grew older my view changed. I now know that some of the acts between Mark and I were rape.”

She claimed that on one occasion when she feared she might be having his baby, he knocked her to the floor and began kicking and punching her in the arms and stomach.

The woman added: “I think his motive was if I was pregnant I wouldn’t have been any more.”

A second woman, said she had lost all confidence after suffering years of mental, physical and sexual abuse at his hands.

She said he threatened to kill her dogs, locked her in their upstairs flat when he went out and kept the car keys when she took the dogs out so she couldn’t escape him.

The woman said he called her names like “fat cow” and "slag" if she didn’t give him money for drink or drugs.

After serving his prison term, Wallace will be supervised in the community for a further five years.

Detective Inspector Hannah Morrison from Fife's DAIU said: “Over the course of 16 years, Mark Wallace subjected these women to prolonged periods of physical, emotional and sexual abuse.

“He has demonstrated himself to be a callous and predatory individual with no remorse for the impact his crimes have had on his victims.

"I would like to commend the outstanding bravery of these women in coming forward to report these crimes, which has been vital in securing these convictions.”
