THE sun shone for the annual Big Fit Walk in Clackmannanshire.

People in the Wee County pulled on their walking boots for the event earlier this month.

Organised locally by Tullibody Healthy Living (THL) and the Wee County Walkers, it was one of several Big Fit Walks taking place in Scotland.

Participants had the option of joining a 60 or 30 minute walk and nearly 40 people left from Alloa, with a further 30 from THL at the Tron Court.

At the end of the jaunt, they enjoyed a free lunch at the Cambus Bowling Club, where they were treated to a healthy feast courtesy of the Tullibody Fruit Barra volunteers.

Kelly Sagar, of the Wee County Walkers, said: “The Big Fit Walk was attended by 66 people, a few more than last year. It was a lovely day and everyone had a great time.

“We managed to sing happy birthday to one of our regular walkers, over the phone, who was celebrating her 85th Birthday and couldn't come to the walk.”

Tracy Gibson, THL community development worker, said: “Every year in June the Wee County Walkers and Tullibody Healthy Living get together and organise Clackmannanshire’s Big Fit Walk.

“This year we were lucky with the weather and, as you can see from some of the pictures, we all enjoyed some beautiful scenery as well as a good chat and a healthy lunch.

“We want to encourage more people and more community groups, to build a walking group into your weekly calendar.

“There is a walk available all week in the Wee County, so give me a call and I’ll let you know what walk if best for you.”

All that is needed is a comfortable pair of shoes and walks leave from various locations in the county.
