CLACKMANNAN residents are being warned of increased traffic over the next 12 weeks, ahead of roadworks on the bypass.

Road widening and the installation of a traffic island will take place on the A907 from 8am on Monday, June 25, and the works could carry on into September.

The around 3km stretch will be partially closed in the westbound direction between Gartarry Roundabout and Marywood Roundabout.

Diversions will be in place via the C59 Alloa Road through Kennet and Clackmannan, continuing onto the B910.

Those travelling eastwards towards the Kincardine and Clackmannan bridges from Alloa will be able to use the bypass as normal.

A statement on the council Facebook page said: "If you use the A907 Clackmannan Bypass you’ll have seen warnings that roadworks begin between Gartarry and Marywood roundabouts on Monday, June 25, for 12 weeks for cycling improvements including road widening and traffic island installation.

"There will be a partial closure and diversions, delays are expected and advice is to find alternative route where possible. Traffic travelling westbound from Gartarry towards Alloa will be diverted via Clackmannan."
