ANOTHER fun filled afternoon was had when the annual Tillicoultry Gala once again brought attractions to the town at the weekend.

It all started with a colourful parade with fancy dresses, proceeding from Murray Square to the Public Park, where entry was free.

Gala queen Chloe Corckford and king Josh Ward were crowned, they were accompanied by attendants Niamh Graham, Sarah Cairns as well as page boy Dylan Carlin and flower girl Jessica Milford.

There were fancy dresses, a competition for best dressed stall, a display from Janet Snape Highland Dancers, inflatables and kids’ rides, Punch and Judy, Balloon Magic and more.

One of the highlights was the well-popular Mini Highland Games with races for everyone.

This included haggis hurling, wellie weeching, tossing the caber and tug o’ war.

Local groups and charities held stalls and MP Luke Graham also popped along to see what was on offer.

The event was organised by Tillicoultry, Coalsnaughton and Devonside Community Council’s Gala Committee, who are already looking forward to running the event again next year.

Damian Sherwood-Johnson, chair of the community council, told the Advertiser: “It was fantastic to see so many people attend and enjoy the many attractions on offer.

“The Highland Games once again proved to be popular and the children who took part had a great time.

“Huge thanks to all the volunteers who worked extremely hard to make the gala so successful.

“Thanks also to Ochil Eyes, Bayne’s Bakery, Good Year Chinese restaurant, and Julie’s Groom Room for their wonderful generosity.

“We look forward to another great day out with the Gala in 2019.”
