DETECTIVES investigating a serious assault on a man near Glasgow are re-appealing for information on an Audi involved in the incident which has now been recovered in rural Stirling.

At around 10.30am on Wednesday, June 20, officers received a report of an abandoned Audi car on a farm track off the B821, midway between Carbeth and Blanefield.

The vehicle – a blue Audi A4 with an X prefix – has been recovered and is currently undergoing a full forensic examination.

The serious assault took place in Torrance at around 5.20pm on Tuesday June 19, when a 30 year-old man was sitting in the passenger seat of a grey Vauxhall Combo van in Queens View where it meets Main Street.

Officers say the Audi stopped and a number of men got out the car armed with knives, before attacking the passenger.

The 34 year-old driver of the van then drove to the ASDA on Kirkintilloch Road, Bishopbriggs, where an ambulance was called and the victim taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

He is currently receiving treatment for stab wounds and remains in a serious but stable condition.

Detective Sergeant Craig Warren, from Greater Glasgow CID, said: “Extensive enquiries are continuing today into this incident and I am now appealing for any further information on the Audi A4 which has been recovered.

“I would urge anyone who saw the x-registration blue Audi A4 on Tuesday, June 19, or the morning of Wednesday, June 20, in the East Dunbartonshire area where it crosses into Stirlingshire, or to anyone with any information on this vehicle to come forward to police.

“We are working to establish more details on the circumstances surrounding the incident and the motive, however we do believe that this was a targeted attack.

"Officers are also gathering CCTV footage from a number of areas and will study the footage to gather any further details."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Greater Glasgow CID through 101 quoting reference number 2809 of Tuesday, June 19.
