FIREFIGHTERS were called out to a hill fire in Tillicoultry at the weekend.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service responded to an alert late in the afternoon on Sunday, June 24, of a large patch of grass which was alight.

Fire crews tended to the area on Ochil Hill, at Law Hill, Upper Mill Street, for more than four hours.

Hillwalkers were advised to avoid the spot and firefighters were on hand above and below the fire to guide them away.

A spokeswoman for the service said: “The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 4.02pm on Sunday, June 24 to a grass fire on Ochil Hill next to Law Hill, Tillicoultry.

“Operations Control mobilised one fire engine to the area where firefighters made the area safe before leaving the scene at 8.43pm.”
