CLACKMANNANSHIRE’S first ever rum, gin and cocktail festival has been hailed a success by its organisers.

The sold-out event, which took place at Gean House on Saturday, June 16, was attended by over 300 people who had all paid to sample some of the country’s best alcoholic beverages while enjoying the stunning Hillfoots backdrop.

The event was organised by the Stirling Spirit Company with attendees being treated by the bonus of beautiful sun and clear skies as they mingled in the historic hotel with other gin and rum lovers.

Two masterclasses delved into the science of gin and rum cocktail making, with award-winning mixologist Marc McParland creating wonders with his knowledge and shaker.

Co-owner of the spirit company, June McCann, said: "We really couldn't be happier with the turnout and reception of the festival, especially as it's the first one we've run.

"Our gin festival in November and whisky festival in May are always so popular, but we wanted to offer something a little different for summer.

“Rum is definitely having a resurgence at the moment and the gin and rum brands really got a chance to show off their experimental sides with the cocktail element of the day.

"It's definitely something we will continue to grow next year."
