A BANNED driver who ran over two policemen's left feet was jailed for two years last Thursday.

Officers were looking for Christopher Bradie, 35, after he had threatened to put a man in his boot outside a nightclub in Alloa.

Police spotted him at the wheel of his girlfriend's distinctive orange VW Golf, parked in a nearby street, at a quarter past midnight.

Prosecutor Ruairidh Ferguson told Falkirk Sheriff Court previously: "The engine was off but the keys were still in the ignition.

"One of the officers obtained details which resulted in the accused being identified as a disqualified driver, and not insured.

"They told him they required to speak with him.

"He immediately began rummaging around in the front passenger footwell.

"Both police witnesses placed hands on the accused in an attempt to usher him from the vehicle, but he quickly turned the ignition on and moved off quickly while the officers were still holding on.

"The two officers were dragged along with the vehicle for approximately 15 feet, with both their left feet being ran over by one of the vehicle's offside tyres."

Bradie then drove off with no lights, and his driver's door still open.

Mr Ferguson said the officers had already radioed for assistance, and "directed police units" in a bid to cut Bradie off.

The car was next seen by two other officers being towards them at speed, still without lights, on the outskirts of the town.

It went the wrong way round a roundabout before speeding off.

Bradie was arrested four days later.

Mr Ferguson added: "The police witnesses did not require any medical treatment, however did suffer discomfort and pain to their respective feet."

One of the officers' hands was also injured.

The court heard that in the earlier incident, about 11.15pm, Bradie had pulled up outside Klub 21 in Alloa and asked bouncers on the door if there was a particular individual inside.

Mr Ferguson said: "The accused disclosed to the door stewards that he was looking for [him] as he had allegedly informed police that he had a firearm in his loft, and that when he found [him] he planned to put him in his boot.

"He offered the two doormen money to inform him when [he] was at the club or in the nearby vicinity.

"He then drove off as he stated he was avoiding police."

The doormen passed on their concerns that Bradie was "looking to cause harm" to the particular man.

Bradie, of Maree Court, Alloa, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, and breach of the peace. The incidents occurred on the night of March 24-25 this year.

Lora Apostolova, defending, said: "He regrets that his impulsive actions ended up hurting two police officers."

Sheriff Craig Caldwell told Bradie: "These are very serious offences indeed."

In addition to the two-year jail term, he disqualified Bradie from driving for a further three years.

Bradie smiled at his lawyer before he was led to the cells.
