AN EDINBURGH man will go on trial later this year after being accused of repeatedly sending obscene messages to a woman.

The 59-year-old man appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court on Thursday, June 28, after being charged with the single offence.

The charge states that on August 14 of last year, at an address in Tillicoultry, the man send electronic messages to the woman which were grossly offensive and of an indecent or menacing character.

The messages referred to sexual acts and were offensive, according to the charge.

Robert Smith, defending, told the court that his client, who resides on Milton Road, pleaded not guilty.

Trial has been set for September 12.
