A FAMILY fun day will take place at the RSPB Black Devon Wetlands in Alloa this weekend.

Head along to the drop-in event at the reserve on Saturday, July 14, 10am-3pm, where visitors will have the chance to charm worms, make a home for creepy crawlies and hunt for underwater dragons and frogs.

Hannah Sharratt, inner forth assistant warden, said: “Last year’s family fun day was such a great success that we wanted to run a similar event this year.

"Loads of families, local and those from farther afield, came down to RSPB Black Devon Wetlands and got to take part in lots of fun activities.

"This year we are running even more activities including worm charming and pond dipping and I’m sure the whole family will want to get involved.

"I can’t wait to show everybody how cool nature is and how you can help it at home.”

Over the last two years, with support from the Inner Forth Landscape Initiative, the RSPB has installed new paths, benches, boardwalks and a viewing screen.

All of these features make it a brilliant site to visit and this event is the perfect occasion to come and explore.

If visitors want to take a picnic and spend the whole day, there are benches and picnic blankets will be available for use.

There are no indoor facilities on site, so attendees should bring suitable outdoor clothing.

Alloa town centre is a 15 minute walk away and there are plenty of shops and cafes with toilet facilities.
