A WOMAN was allegedly assaulted in the town centre of Alloa yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, July 11).

Two people have been charged in connection with the incident, as well as with drugs offences following the disturbance near the corner of the High Street and Drysdale Street.

A 47-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman were arrested and later released with a date to be fixed for their appearance at Alloa Sheriff Court.

Officers raced to the scene with a number of vehicles in attendance after the call came in at around 3.30pm.

It is understood the alleged victim of the assault was a 29-year-old woman.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Advertiser: “A 47-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman have been charged in connection with an assault and drug offences following a disturbance in Alloa town centre on the afternoon of Wednesday July 11, they have been released on an undertaking to attend Alloa Sheriff Court at a date to be fixed.”
