CHILDREN and adults had the chance to learn about a number of animals when a small zoo popped up on the High Street of Alloa last week.

Animal Man Mini Zoo was in town last Thursday, July 12, as part of an ongoing fun summer programme, which is looking to bring events to the heart of Alloa whilst increasing footfall on the main shopping strip.

Organised by Alloa Town Centre Business Improvement District, the mini zoo brought a number of animals to the performance area at the top of the High Street.

There was everything from cockroaches through furry friends to snakes with handling opportunities for the brave.

Despite the slightly cooler weather, many children and parents came along to check out what was on offer.

This was the second week of the fun programme with still much to come each Thursday until August 9.

Tomorrow, July 19, will see a comic book and movie bonanza with Batman and Moana both coming along to throw a party.

Children will have the chance to meet their favourite characters between 11.30am and 2pm with a half-hour break at 12.30pm.

Next week will see more animals with the return of Owl Magic. People will have the chance to meet the birds and there will be handling and photo opportunities.

Further down the line, there will be some magical children’s entertainment with Mick Magic while Gary Dunn will be closing the festivities with his antics.
