A TEN-MILE walk between Clackmannanshire and Stirling will give people the opportunity to remember the loved ones they have lost.

Those taking part will start off in Dollar and end at Logie Kirk, following sections of the Hillfoots Diamond Jubilee Way below the Ochils.

The Christian Aid Scotland event, called Another Way to Remember, is now in its third year and allows people to celebrate and honour those who have passed.

Tillicoultry couple Ian and Joyce Watkinson took part in the event last year and are planning to get involved again next month.

Ian said: “I heard about the walk through my local church and decided it would be a nice thing to do to celebrate the life of our son, Andrew, who died two years ago.

"We really enjoyed taking part last year, not only was it a tough challenge, but we found it a positive experience walking and sharing stories with new friends.

"At the end of the walk we lit candles in Logie Kirk, pausing to remember the light Andrew had brought to our lives. He is greatly missed.”

The route will once again take in part of the Devon Way and when it finishes in Stirling here is an opportunity for quiet reflection and prayer.

Jo Dallas, In Memory coordinator at Christian Aid Scotland, will be leading the Another Way to Remember walk again this year.

She said: “Every week at Christian Aid we receive donations from families who want to celebrate and honour the life of a loved one through making a gift in memory.

"Through that gift, made with love, their memory lives on through Christian Aid’s work tackling poverty and social injustice around the world.

"The Another Way to Remember walk was something I was keen to establish as an event, to allow people the opportunity, in our busy lives, to do something tangible and positive to remember a loved one.

"It’s sometimes hard to create space in our lives to pause, reflect and celebrate what they meant to us."

The walk takes place on Saturday, September 1, at 10am and will leave from Dollar Parish Church, ending at Logie Kirk near the University of Stirling.
