AN ALLOA supermarket has been raising funds to help people who suffer from dementia with the efforts culminating in a family fun day this weekend.

Iceland on Shillinghill is joining the chain’s stores across the country in a bid to raise as much as possible for Alzheimer’s Society.

Money for the charity is being collected in-store and the Clacks employees are due to throw a family fun day this Saturday, August 18.

Tanith Dougall, talking shop representative at the store, is organising the event for the second year and is hoping to make it even better this time around.

On the day, customers will have the chance to enjoy the arts and crafts station and a cake as well as a book stall.

There will be plenty of prizes too, with a tombola and a raffle. Lucky customers could be in for a £50 voucher at Iceland with more prizes kindly donated by other businesses in the town.

Children’s favourite Trolls, Poppy and Branch, are also set to make an appearance on the day.

Tanith said: “It is a worthwhile cause. We have a lot of customers coming in who are willing to help; they’ve been donating books because they have personally [been affected] as well.

“It is a brilliant cause and everybody here [at Iceland Alloa] supports it 100 per cent.”

Tanith added last year’s fundraiser went down a treat, the store raised around £500 on the fun day itself and about £1,200 through the year, and she hopes to boost the figures this time around.

She, store manager Keiron Norrie and the rest of the staff are urging customers to go along on the day and “chip in” in any way they can.

Altogether, Iceland stores raised a whopping £15million for the cause so far.
