ARTISAN treats were on offer at a food market in Alloa last week.
Clackmannanshire Third Sector Interface (CTSi) organised its Local Producers’ Market at the Liberal Club on Mar Street last Wednesday, August 15, with a range of goods from various sources.
There was bread from Riverside Bakery CIC, plants from Garinny Nurseries, free range products from Egglicious Eggs, goods from Arran Cheese and more.
A Fairtrade stall also popped up alongside Ice-Queem, a local business that serves up a completely vegan and dairy free version of the treat in innovative ways.
The Playpen Café, which delighted many at the recent LEGO exhibition at the same venue, was also there.
Outside, Alloa Model and Bike Shop was offering free maintenance and repairs as part of CTSI’s Big Bike Revival scheme.
CTSi business manager Anthea Coulter hopes to hold another market sometime mid-October, possibly going into the early evening to suit people who are working.
Scottish Labour leader Richard Leonard also popped in for a visit, browsing the goods, speaking to stall holders and praising the event.
He said: “It was a pleasure to attend the farmers market in Liberal Club in Alloa.
“My congratulations to CTSi on organising the event and giving opportunities to local enterprises to showcase their produce.
“I enjoyed speaking to some of the market holders, including Marianne MacNeil, Ice-Queem, who is pioneering new approaches to ice cream which caters for consumers’ dietary requirements.
“Anthea and her team for CTSI should be proud of the work their doing to develop this partnership working."
