A “ONE IN A MILLION” care worker at Fishcross received a top company award last week.

Marchglen Care Centre’s Jane Stewart received the award for her care and support work from Caring Homes, which runs the residential property for the elderly.

Jane was described as an “outstanding carer” who is a credit to the team.

Her nominator went on to say: “She always faces the problems and issues with a big smile and the warmth of her voice is felt in every corner of our unit.”

Another one added she is “one in a million” and “always seems to know the right thing to say”.

On top of her daily care duties, Jane has been heavily involved in transforming an area of the patio garden into an oasis of tranquillity.

The care company’s managing director, Tracey Fletcher-Ray, presented her accolade as part of the business’ Scottish Recognition Awards.

There were many others whose hard work was rewarded, the ceremony itself was also held at Marchglen with nominations flowing in across nine categories for the third year running.

Tracey, who also presented more than 30 long service medals with colleagues boasting 370 years between themselves, said: “It is fantastic to be able to recognise these achievements and all the great work which is done by Caring Homes in Scotland.”

Staff from Forth Bay Care Home in Kincardine, which was gutted by a devastating fire around a year ago, also scooped awards.

Alistair Todd won the top award in the nutrition/eating well category while Fiona Day bagged the trophy for best in management/leadership.

Jackie Morrison, Scotland regional manager, added: “These awards give us the opportunity to celebrate excellence in Scotland and the high calibre of the homes and colleagues we have working here.

“Everyone who was nominated deserves a special mention, as do all of those who have put in 10,15, or 20 years’ service with us.”
