STAFF at Alloa fire station will throw open its doors to the public in a special event next month.
On Sunday, September 2, the annual Alloa Community Fire Station Open Day returns to the area giving people a rare opportunity to look behind the scenes of a fully operational fire station.
A host of fun-filled activities suitable for young and old will be available throughout the day, which runs from 1pm-4pm.
This includes a chip pan and road traffic collision demonstrations, a chance to meet with firefighters and even get your picture taken in the front seat of one of the fire appliances.
The event is part of Scottish Fire and Rescue Service’s ongoing commitment to work closely with its communities and partner agencies.
Station Manager Alex McCutcheon said: “This is one of the highlights of our calendar.
“We always have a strong turnout and the firefighters love engaging with the public in this informal and enjoyable way.
“Last year more than 100 people turned up and I hope we can attract a similar response this time round.
“Everyone is aware of the vital work carried out by firefighters but most never get the chance to get a look round our stations or speak with our crews. This event tries to bridge that gap.
“It’s hugely important for us to work closely with our communities and this is just one way in which we try to achieve that.”
