YOUNGSTERS had the opportunity to be knights for a day when they took part in an outdoor event in Clacks.

Children under the age of six and their families had a great time taking on some woodland fun outside Alloa Tower on Sunday, August 26.

They were tasked with putting their skills to the test to see if they could defeat the dragon during the National Trust for Scotland (NTS) event.

There was a whole host of activities on offer and those who went along had a great time – despite the rainy weather on the day.

The little heroes found out if they were brave enough to be the best knight in the wild woods of Alloa Tower, a NTS property, during Knights and Dragons.

Alison Fraser, property manager at Alloa Tower, said: "It was fully booked and it was very popular – the parents and children had a wonderful time.

"They made weapons and swords and other activities. Despite the weather, everybody seemed to have a great time."

Some of the children turned up to the event dressed as knights, complete with headgear and plastic swords, and there was even a little soft toy dragon in their midst.

They had the opportunity to make shields, one was even decorated with a woodland-inspired coat of arms, pretend weapons from sticks and they toasted marshmallows over an open fire.
