A MAN who yelled at his wife and called her a “mongrel” has been given three months to be of good behaviour.

Mark Ivatt admitted a single charge of causing fear and alarm to his partner by shouting, swearing and acting in an aggressive manner on July 23 on Posthill, Sauchie.

The accused appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court last Thursday, August 23, where the prosecutor said that the couple and their children were getting set to embark on a holiday to Ayr that day.

The depute fiscal said: “The complainer tried to speak to the accused about the holiday, but he did not engage. The complainer became worried because a previous holiday had been ruined by bad blood.”

The court then heard that the 32-year-old accused burst into a disgraceful tirade at this partner, calling her a “mongrel” and “schizo b*****d” – a comment which particularly upset her due to conditions she suffered from.

A glass bottle was then picked up by the accused as he made a motion to throw it at the complainer before he heard the screams of his children pleading not to “hurt mum”.

Afterwards, he began kicking items around the room before being asked to leave the house and hand over his keys, which he did.

The complainer, when outside, asked him to remove the child seats from the car which he did before throwing them into the garden. He then drove away and clipped the complainer’s vehicle on the way, cracking the number plate.

Police were alerted to the incident and when they arrived saw that there had been a disturbance inside the home.

Ms Devlin, representing Ivatt, told the court that her client had no issue with the narration. She then handed a letter over from the complainer to Sheriff David Mackie.

The defence lawyer added that Ivatt, of Walker Drive, Bonnybridge, had been under strain recently due to the loss of a close friend. She told the court that he “cracked” that day.

The sheriff handed down a structured good behaviour deferment, which means he will work with the social work department while he maintains good behaviour before appearing again in three months time.
