CLACKS kids embraced their inner woodland warrior during a free event held in the Wee County at the weekend.

Despite the dreary weather on Sunday, August 26, youngsters donned welly boots and raincoats to take part in some fun and games in Alloa.

The event was organised by conservation charity the National Trust for Scotland (NTS) in a bid to engage with more people in the community.

It was held in association with Alloa Tower, a NTS property, and youngsters had the opportunity to roam in the grounds of the historic spot.

During Wild Woodland Warriors they learned the skills needed to be a mighty warrior by taking part in a number of different activities.

They gathered around an open fire to roast marshmallows on sticks and put on some warrior face paint to help them in their quests.

As they set off to become woodland warriors of Alloa Tower, a medieval keep, they also learned how to make swords fashioned from sticks.

They armed themselves for make-believe battles and also had a great time building outdoor dens to shield them from the rain.

The next free event to be held at Alloa Tower is a woodland banquet on Sunday, September 9, between 11am and 1pm.

It will be held outdoors and is suitable for the whole family – join the NTS for nature arts and crafts and some campfire treats.
