A TULLIBODY man has been ordered to undergo supervision despite after he admitted a shocking and sustained assault on his girlfriend.

John Wilson pleaded guilty to two charges while unrepresented at a previous appearance at Alloa Sheriff Court.

The 33-year-old returned to the court for sentencing on Thursday, September 13, after a full criminal justice social work report was submitted.

Between May 19 and 20 of this year, at Ashley Terrace, the accused behaved in a threatening and aggressive manner by shouting, swearing and uttering offensive, abusive and threatening remarks.

He then seized and pulled a telephone, which caused damage to it, in order to prevent his girlfriend from phoning the police.

The second charge alleges that on May 20 at the same address, Wilson assaulted his partner by pushing her on the body, seizing her by the body and head before striking her head off a worktop.

Wilson then repeatedly punched her on the head, causing her to fall to the floor to her injury.

Claire McCarron, defending Wilson, told the court that this was her client’s first domestic offence and the first offence involving the complainer.

Ms McCarron added that Wilson had taken alcohol and substances on the day of the offence.

Sheriff David Mackie told Wilson, of Banchory Place, that a custodial sentence was very much an option for this offence, but did not feel it would be fair on his family to impose it.

He was sentenced to two years of supervision with a requirement to enrol on the Caledonian Men’s Programme.
